Ummo is an Italian restaurant in North River, Chicago.
The concept behind it was energy; when cooking, when sharing a meal, and how it always comes accompanied by music and rhythm.
The brand is inspired by music, more specifically by the vinyl record Jazz covers of the 30s and forward in Chicago.
The typography, layouts, and graphics are based on this theme.
The graphic application can range from subtle to explosive. Similarly, the nods to music can be both literal and abstract.
Applications, from coasters to the entrance sign, dishes, menus, and digital interfaces, were developed to immerse the brand in the same atmosphere.
